Hello all
Galleries are starting to open up at last! After the long winter lockdown there’ll be mixed shows of work by various artists. So some of John’s paintings can be seen at BEVERE GALLERY in Worcester, and at ORIEL CRiC in Crickhowell.
Having missed his slot in May 2020, John was pleased to be given the opportunity to start the season in the Garden Tearooms at GREAT WITLEY COURT, with an exhibition of small landscapes. Providing there are no changes to the ‘road map’, the tearooms will open on 17th May and the exhibition will continue until 19th July. Initially of course, entry will be limited and socially distanced. See contacts below to check.
During lockdown, John has busied himself with illustrations from fondly remembered times of his life in Malawi: Two weeks by mail ship to Cape Town and a five day journey by train to Nyasaland in 1964 left a lasting impression of the contrast between the landscapes of his past and his future. Twelve good years in Africa have been the inspiration for what will eventually become a book, an enjoyable collection of memories both visual and verbal, with fun contributions from friends who have gladly added their own ‘two pen’orth’.
The MAJLIS GALLERY is under renovation with new owners who have different plans: maybe an arts venue – we’ll see. Also in Dubai, a sports complex is extending its facilities to include restaurants, cafes and an art gallery. John seems to be top of the list for supplying paintings there – watch this space!
Fingers crossed for good weather on 30th AUGUST for the ‘2nd LOCKDOWN ART FAIR’. Bank Holiday Monday. When about a dozen Inkberrow artists will join us on the Village Green to display a variety of art and craft work. Timing flexible in case of rain.

We hope the year hasn’t been too difficult for you. Some of us have experienced loss and sadness, others, much pleasure with stay-at-home life giving a new impetus to our interests. Such is life we must make the most of it as we all ease our way into the new normal.
